The trail starts here but please park at echo lake beach parking lot 100 yards ahead. Artist’s bluff is often talked about as an “easy” hike but mind you that’s on a white mountains scale. Once you’ve taken in the views at the bluff, continue on the trail which will put you out along route 18 back in the direction of the parking area.

We parked at cannon mountain rv park and there was no sign to the trail head. From the top of artist’s bluff’s ledges there is an excellent view over echo lake to cannon mountain’s front ski trails and down the narrow franconia notch. This is nicer than walking the road between the two trailheads.

Alltrails/sarah hines the 1.5 mile loop trail quickly rewards you with absolutely stunning views, the kind you normally need to hike much farther for. This was the old path to both artist's bluff and bald mountain. This is the perfect hike to find incredible views of the park and some amazing foliage in autumn.
